Antalya Airport to Side is 65 km via the D400 coastal highway east through Serik and Manavgat. The road is dual carriageway for the entire route — no mountain passes, no winding sections. This is one of the smoothest long routes from AYT.

Typical journey time: 65 minutes. Worst-case in peak July–August traffic: 90–100 minutes, particularly on Friday and Saturday afternoons when the D400 east of Serik sees returning day-tripper traffic around 17:00–19:00.

Unlike the Belek and Lara routes (which go west on the D400 towards the city), the Side route heads east — away from the airport-to-city bottleneck. Morning check-out traffic does not affect this direction.

After passing through Serik the highway continues east, crossing the Manavgat River bridge before the clearly marked Side turn-off appears on the right. At that junction the road splits: left leads to the Side peninsula and town centre, right leads into the hotel zone running along the coast towards Sorgun Beach. Drivers know both forks and will take the correct branch for your hotel without any directions from you.

All prices are fixed. Tolls, fuel, and waiting time up to 60 minutes from your actual landing time are included. There is no meter running and no negotiation at the end.

Oversized luggage (golf clubs, pushchairs, large surf bags) fits in the minivan boot without surcharge — confirm at booking. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available on request.

Luggage details by vehicle: A standard sedan carries 3 large suitcases (each up to 23 kg) in the boot. A minivan carries 6 large suitcases plus carry-on bags. If you are a family of four with four checked bags plus a pushchair, book the minivan — a sedan boot will be full with the pushchair alone. Golf bags (up to 2 sets) fit in a minivan with the rear seats partially folded. Surfboard bags and oversized sports equipment require minivan booking — confirm dimensions at the time of booking. If you are travelling with a manual or electric wheelchair, request an accessible vehicle when booking; these are available and the driver is trained to assist.

Most charter and package-holiday flights from the UK, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, and Poland arrive at Terminal 2. Check your boarding pass — it will read "ANTALYA T2". Domestic flights on Turkish Airlines and Pegasus use Terminal 1.

Step 1 — Land and collect luggage. After disembarking, follow the signs for baggage claim. T2 has free Wi-Fi (network: "AYT Free WiFi") — connect while waiting for your bags and send a WhatsApp message to your booking reference number to confirm you have landed.

Step 2 — Clear customs. Standard passport control. EU and UK passports use the e-gate lane on the left, which moves faster. Your driver is already tracking your flight and has been at the terminal since 30 minutes before landing.

Step 3 — Exit and find your driver. Push through the automatic sliding doors into the arrivals hall. Turn left immediately. Private transfer drivers wait in the first zone on your left, before the taxi rank, each holding a printed A4 name sign. You will see the row of drivers from 20 metres. Your name will be on the sign in capital letters.

Step 4 — If you cannot see your driver. Send a WhatsApp message to the number in your booking confirmation. A response will come prompt. Do not accept offers from people approaching you inside the terminal — those are unlicensed touts.

Step 5 — Walk to the vehicle. The driver leads you to the car park, which is a 3–5 minute walk from the arrivals exit. Luggage trolleys from T2 arrivals can be taken to the car park at no charge.

Step 6 — Enjoy the transfer. The drive east on the D400 is straightforward. The driver will not need directions — they know every hotel gate in the Side and Manavgat zones.

The Side and Sorgun Beach resort strip runs 8 km along the coast east of Side town, from the ancient peninsula at the western tip to Sorgun pine-forest beach at the eastern end. Here is what to expect at each major property:

Barut Acanthus & Cennet (5★, 2,000+ rooms) — A twin resort complex on two private beaches. The main entrance has a guarded gate with ID check; allow an extra 3–5 minutes for the driver to check in. Drop-off is at the hotel lobby, not the gate.

Crystal Paraiso Verde (5★, ~700 rooms) — All-inclusive with a large waterpark. Gate access is straightforward. The resort is 4 km from Side town ruins, so a taxi or hotel shuttle is needed for evening visits to the peninsula. Check-in is at the main lobby on the ground floor immediately inside the gate; the driver will wait at the lobby entrance while you complete the check-in formalities, and luggage is handled by hotel staff from that point.

Selectum Family Resort Side (5★) — Family-focused with waterslides and a dedicated kids' club. Located 4 km from the Apollo ruins. The resort gate is well-signposted from the main beach road.

Club Magic Life Side (5★, ~750 rooms) — Club resort format with evening entertainment. The entrance road is a 1 km turn-off from the D400 — drivers know it well.

Kamelya Selin Hotel (5★, ~300 rooms) — A smaller, boutique-feel resort on Sorgun Beach, within a pine forest. Access is via a 2 km sand-pine forest road; a sedan handles it comfortably.

Oz Hotels Side Premium (4★, 465 rooms) — Mid-range all-inclusive at €60–90 per person per night. Straightforward access, close to the main beach road. The hotel entrance is directly off the beach road with no long approach lane, making drop-off quick and easy even with large luggage. This is one of the few Side-area hotels where a sedan can drop right at the lobby door without a long walk from the gate.

Side town centre hotels — The ancient peninsula itself is car-free. Your driver will drop you at the entrance of the pedestrianised zone (near the Arch of Vespasian). From there, it is a 2–5 minute walk to most peninsular hotels. Wheeled luggage rolls easily on the stone-paved streets.

Voyage Sorgun (5★) — Located on Sorgun Beach, accessed via a 3 km pine forest road off the main beach road. The driver knows the access road. Taxi drivers sometimes miss the turning; a private transfer eliminates that risk.

Licensed yellow metered taxis at the official airport rank are legitimate — the risk is from unlicensed touts inside the terminal who approach passengers before they reach the rank. On a 65 km route like Side, even a licensed taxi with a running meter can reach €160–200 depending on the route taken. The fixed-price private transfer removes that uncertainty entirely.

The HAVAS bus departs from Terminal 2 lower level — exit the arrivals hall, take the ramp or stairs down to the bus bays outside. Buses run roughly every 30 minutes in peak season and terminate at Antalya Otogar (the intercity bus station in the city centre) — not at Side. From Otogar you need a separate long-distance coach east to Manavgat or Side, which adds another 1.5–2 hours on top of the 45-minute city bus leg. Total door-to-hotel time via HAVAS is typically 3–4 hours. This option is practical only for budget solo travellers with minimal luggage and maximum flexibility.

Night transfers to Side operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A 30% night surcharge applies to pickups that start between 22:00 and 06:00.

Worked example: Sedan daytime price €100 × 1.30 = €130 at night. Minivan: €130 × 1.30 = €169.

The good news on the D400 east: the road is significantly quieter between midnight and 05:00. A journey that takes 80 minutes in the afternoon will take 55 minutes at 01:00. Drivers report the stretch between Serik and Manavgat is clear even on peak summer nights.

The driver pool is smaller between 00:00 and 05:00 — book your night transfer at least 48 hours in advance during July and August. Flight tracking works the same at night: the driver is notified automatically if your flight is delayed.

There is no additional charge if your flight lands late and pushes you into the night window after you booked a daytime rate — the surcharge is based on the published landing time, not the actual. If your flight is significantly delayed, contact us via WhatsApp.

July and August (peak summer): Side and Manavgat are fully booked. Barut Acanthus alone hosts 4,000 guests. Pre-book your transfer at least 7 days in advance. Journey times extend to 75–80 minutes on weekday evenings and 90–100 minutes on Friday/Saturday afternoons. The Manavgat Waterfall day-trip traffic adds pedestrian and minibus congestion on the D400 side roads — not on the main highway, but it slows the last 3 km into the resort zone.

June and September (shoulder season): Excellent time to travel. Roads are clear, hotels are at 70% capacity, journey times are reliably 65 minutes. Most 5-star resorts in the Side and Sorgun zone are open by mid-June and stay open through all of September. Pre-booking transfers 2–3 days ahead is still advisable in June — early-season demand is often underestimated and driver availability tightens faster than guests expect. Book 3–5 days ahead in September.

October and November: The resort zone quiets dramatically after mid-October. Many large resorts close for the season after the last charter flights depart (typically 31 October). Check your hotel is open before booking. Transfer prices remain the same year-round.

December to April (low season): Very few tourists. Journey times are 60 minutes or less. Some resort-area restaurants and activities close. The Side town peninsula is quieter but still accessible — the ruins and the beach are open year-round. Transfers run on demand; same-day booking is usually possible.

Weekend D400 east tip: On Saturdays and Sundays from late June to mid-September, Turkish day-trippers drive east from Antalya to Side beach. The D400 between the airport and Serik (the first 30 km) sees heavier traffic 09:00–11:00 outbound and 17:00–20:00 returning. If your flight arrives Saturday 10:00, allow 85 minutes for your transfer.

The Antalya to Side transfer is 65 minutes — well within the comfort window for most children. There are no mountain roads, no tight bends, and the D400 is a smooth dual carriageway.

Child seats are available free of charge — request at booking. Three sizes are carried: infant (0–13 kg), toddler (9–18 kg), and booster (15–36 kg). During peak July and August, child seat demand is high — confirm your request at least 48 hours before travel.

There is no scheduled rest stop on the 65 km route — the journey does not require one at normal pace. However, if you are travelling with a baby and need to stop for feeding or a nappy change, ask your driver. They will pull over at the nearest petrol station (there is one on the D400 near Serik, 30 km into the journey). The stop adds 10 minutes.

Pushchairs and travel cots fold flat into the minivan boot. For two adults, two children, and a pushchair, book the minivan — a sedan boot will be too tight.
